In a beautiful location below Cortona’s Palazzone and adjacent to the pre-Romenesque and Byzantine church of Sant’Angelo, this restored apartment with a private courtyard is situated in what was once a small medieval village. Now a residence with wonderful gardens and a communal swimming pool, it is the ideal place to relax while enjoying the busy nearby town of Cortona.
The apartment consists of two bedrooms, a kitchen, open space living/dining area, a bathroom and a small exclusive courtyard covered with vines and wisteria. The apartment has air conditioning, wi-fi and central heating.
For the fit, Cortona is within walking distance! For the less inclined, it is a short drive of no more than five minutes. The Camucia train station is only a five minute drive away, allowing for easy access to Italy’s biggest cities and airports relatively quickly and inexpensively.
There are two excellent delicatessens/mini supermarkets close to the residence; one within a five minute walk and the other at a distance of 2 kms in the village of Pergo where one can also find a Relais hotel/restaurant, a pizzeria and a bar famous for its eclectic mix of both Italians and foreigners.
The residence is run as a condominium with annual costs of approximately E.3000 exclusive of personal consumption of gas/water/electricity.
Owners' experience:
"We bought Casa Margarita at Il Chiostro nearly ten years ago and have loved visiting it in all seasons ever since. In winter it is quiet, cosy and warm - light the fire, open a bottle of the local red wine and relax. In summer it is beautiful - the patio, pool, barbecue and gardens are all you need.
It is ideal as a second home. The whole of Il Chiostro is professionally managed and maintained to a very high standard, and we never have to worry about a thing when we are not there. Charges are reasonable and individual apartment owners always have a say in any decisions about the maintenance. The other owners are very friendly, representing many nationalities including Italian, British, Irish and French.
Cortona itself was a revelation to us. We had never been there before we bought the apartment, but it is a wonderful town from every point of view - history, culture, food and wine, landscape, people. Il Chiostro is only a short drive away from Cortona at the foot of the hill, so all in all, it is a perfect place.”
