In the very centre of Cortona, overlooking Piazza Signorelli and Palazzo Casali (the town hall) a lofty, extremely luminous first floor apartment in a period building of noble origins. The apartment with windows on two facades – a total of 5 windows in all - is approx. 90 sqm internally and consists of three spacious rooms and two smaller ones for a bathroom and storage.
Piazza Signorelli is more or less the hub of Cortona life: over the course of the year many events take place in the square, such as fairs, a weekly market, concerts and even the annual Giostra dell’Archidado which takes place on the second Sunday of June and is a historical, medieval re-enactment of the marriage and celebrations (in 1397) of Antonia Salimbeni and Francesco Casali, a local nobleman.
The apartment enjoys a front row seat for this colourful event as it does the ensuing cross bow competition which is an annual favourite for many of Cortona’s visitors. A great way to capitalize on the apartment's location, would be to rent out the apartment - at top dollar - for the weeks in which this and other events are scheduled.
The apartment, currently gutted and completed to a builder’s finish requires some building work and an interior design makeover. There are hand painted decorative motifs – to be restored - which lend it an air of importance, as do the high ceilings and large windows. It provides a wonderful opportunity for someone to display their flair for interior design and, if needed the Cortona International team can provide all necessary assistance (from A-Z/key in hand).
Interestingly, there are also fiscal incentives to be had - of up to 50% to 65% of the restoration costs sustained and applicable to non-residents. There would also be a E.10,000 bonus applicable for new furniture.
DEFINITELY WORTH VIEWING!
