Winter sunsets in Cortona

Blue sky days usually mean a beautiful sunset. It's well worth taking time out to watch these winter displays...

From the mountains to the valley floor, Cortona’s winter sunsets are giant displays of colour that are spectacular to witness.  They are more or less the only displays of colour during the coldest winter months - unless you’re up with the birds and like to watch the sunrise as well!
What I love most is the reddish hue that bathes everything in the sun’s path - landscapes, buildings, trees, mountains - all turned to a coppery gold,  warming at least the inside, if not the outside.
It’s the moment of each day when everything just seems to settle in to a gentle calm; it can be a time for reflection, hope, prayer, meditation…or for just simple ‘time out’ of a busy day, to watch one of nature’s wonders.
