With town and countryside a riot of colour, we couldn’t help but take a series of photos for our blog...
It’s that time of year again! Splashes of vibrant colour everywhere: Red
poppies and wild flowers adorn the olive groves and hillsides.
The wisteria and
wild rose bushes are in full flower. Everything is busy and buzzing: in the
countryside the constant hum of bees, insects, tractors and mowers. In the town, the chatter of spring voices, the
clatter and clash of cups and saucers and the hiss of espresso machines pumping
steam at full capacity.
How wonderful to be a first-time visitor to Cortona at this time of
year!
From afar an imposing citadel perched on her hillside to a backdrop of
blue sky.
Close to, a thriving town centre - rich in art and history - with
secluded alley ways, backstreets and quiet squares, yet to discover.
Places where the past gently blends with the present, where birds sing
and nest, where the delicate perfume of the flowering perennials infiltrate the
senses. Sheltered spots you might leave only with reluctance, hoping - maybe
already planning - to return in the near future.
