Jeff Curto is a distinguished photographer and educator renowned for his extensive work in photography and his dedication to teaching. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Illinois Wesleyan University (1981) and a Master of Fine Arts from Bennington College (1983). Notably, he attended Ansel Adams’ final workshop in Carmel, California, in 1983, which significantly influenced his photographic journey.
From 1984 to 2014, Curto served as a professor at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the photography program. Post-retirement, he has been a regular faculty member with the University of Georgia’s Studies Abroad program in Cortona, Tuscany, sharing his passion for photography with students in this culturally rich setting.
Since 2009, Curto has been leading annual photography workshops in Italy, offering participants immersive experiences that blend technical instruction with cultural exploration. His workshops are designed to help photographers of all levels refine their skills while experiencing the beauty and history of Italian landscapes and architecture.
In addition to his teaching and workshops, Curto is known for his contributions to the broader photography community through his podcasts. “Camera Position” delves into the creative aspects of photography, providing insights and discussions that inspire photographers to think deeply about their art. Another of his podcasts focuses on the history of photography, offering listeners a comprehensive understanding of the medium’s evolution and its impact on society.
Curto’s photographic work often explores the intersection of the natural and built environments, capturing the essence of places and the stories they hold. His portfolios, such as “Evidence of Hands On Stone – The Italian Portfolio,”
