Bringing life back to a home
It can be very daunting taking on a large project such as a house restoration especially when you live abroad and can not see the day to day progress, works and trouble shoot!
However, then end result is worth the blood sweat and tears as our now friends, Stefanie and David found out…
‘Around 3 years ago we had our first look at Casa Faulle, comprised of 3 farm houses tucked away at the end of a 2 km dirt road on a hill top in Montanare near Cortona. Nicola Burazzi from Cortona International as well as some friends accompanied us. All, including myself, enthusiastic about the location but rather hesitant given the state of the property itself and the work (and money!) that would have to be put into the houses to renovate them.
My husband David “It won’t be that complicated” Viëtor, convinced me that we should go ahead nevertheless, and I agreed, on the condition that he would be Capo Ristrutturazione. Nicola put us in touch with a great architect, who in his turn engaged great workers and the rest is history.
For now, the first house has been restructured beautifully,
they are putting the finishing touches to the pool, and the landscaping architect is practicing his rain dance so he can start planting whatever is needed after the heat of the summer.
While waiting for all this we have – thank to our kind neighbour - been able to enjoy already two harvests or our own delicious olive oil.
During our many stopovers to check on the works, we have befriended a lot of people in and around Cortona. Cortona is a lively town with an active community, organising the most interesting activities year round. Now that the main house is ready, we can’t wait to start to know the house, its surroundings, Cortona and its lovely people even better.’
