The Etruscans in Holland. 40 years since the Etruscan Project.
An exhibition of 150 works, including 10 evocative bronzes from the Corazzi Collection from the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in Leidan.
The MAEC, Museum of the Etruscan Academy and the City of Cortona presents the exhibition "The Etruscans in Holland. 40 years after the Etruscan Project", an exhibition that celebrates the historical link between Cortona and the city of Leida, in the sign of Etruscan culture and international collaboration.
The exhibition project, promoted by the Municipality of Cortona and the Etruscan Academy, in collaboration with the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in Leida, marks a new chapter in the enhancement of the archeological heritage and in the memory of the "Year of the Etruscans" of 1985, a key moment in the cultural history of Tuscany and Italy, when archeology: from knowledge for a few began a path of greater public sharing. Within the framework of the celebrations of the Etruscan Project of the Tuscany Region of 1985, the return to Cortona of part of the Corazzi Collection, which migrated in the nineteenth century to Holland practically 200 years ago (1826) and consisted of exceptional Etruscan bronzes, including the famous child with the goose and the griffin, symbol of the exhibition, is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of the international connections that were fundamental in the history of the Cortonese Academy, which will be three hundred years old in 2027, and that the MAEC, since its birth in 2005, has intended to continue.
