With only two people allowed per household Christmas and New Year will be more sombre events than usual....
Red Zone restrictions will be in place across Italy as of 24th to 27th December (inclusive), 31st December to 3rd January (inclusive), and 5th to 6th January (inclusive).
During this period people can leave their homes only for reasons of
work, necessity and health and only within their own local municipalities (comune). They are also obliged to carry
with them an auto-certification form justifying their reason for being out and
about.
Only essential shops will be open and bars and restaurants will remain
closed.
The rules will however allow people during this period to receive a
maximum of two guests, not including children under the age of 14, in their
homes.
On those week days that are not
public holidays or the eve of public holidays – 28th to 30th December (inclusive) and 4th January – a nationwide
orange zone will be enforced: Bars and restaurants will remain shut with
takeaway service only and non-essential shops will be open until 21.00.
Movement between different comune remains restricted to reasons of work,
necessity and health, but no auto-certification form is required to justify
movement.
A curfew from 22:00 to 05:00 will remain in place throughout the entire period.
