What to do 2: Cortona On The Move

Cortona On The Move opened in 2011 as an international contemporary photography festival taking place in various different venues scattered around Cortona’s city center.

This innovative exhibition has been staged every summer since, from July to October, bringing to Cortona the work of different photographers from all over the world

It was born to, “give value to the experimental tension that takes us into the future,” (COTM 2017) and it does just this - the exhibits open our hearts and minds by tackling and showcasing various cultures, events, and a myriad of eccentricities from countless corners of the globe.

This year, thanks to COTM, Cortona has the privilege of hosting a selection of images from Pete Souza’s “Obama: An Intimate Portrait” series. Souza, the former Chief Official White House Photographer, followed Barack Obama around for hours each day during all eight years of his presidency, even accompanying him overseas.  Through his moving and personal photographs, he allows us to see what Obama the man was like and how he affected our world.

With the purchase of a 15 Euro ticket one can visit all of the exhibitions on show this summer with the exception of .Pete Souza’s exhibit in the MAEC (Etruscan museum in Piazza Signorelli) open from July 14 toOctober 1 from 10 AM to 7 PM which costs an extra 2 Euro.

Tickets for “An Intimate Portrait” can be purchased in these locations and dates:

At the COTM ZONE in Palazzo Ferretti (Via Nazionale 45) from July 14 to September 3 (10 AM

to 8 PM), and from September 4 to October 1 (10 AM to 7 PM)

OR at the FORTEZZA DEL GIRIFALCO (Via Raimondo Bistacci) from July 15 to September 3

(10 AM to 8 PM), and from September 4 to October 1 (10 AM to 7 PM)
