What to do 3: Cortona Mix Festival

The Cortona Mix Festival opens July 19th for its sixth edition this year, once again brining to Cortona its exciting and characteristic blend of artistic disciplines, raw perspectives, and alternative and curious points of view. In the last five years the festival has hosted in Cortona’s main piazzas and theaters world-famous musicians, authors, and performers such as Jovanotti (a Cortona native), Stefano Bollani, Roberto Saviano, Ian Anderson & Jethro Tull, Max Weinberg Quintet, Brunello Cucinelli, and Eleonora Abbagnato just to name a stellar few! The Mix is an interdisciplinary festival uniting music, literature, cinema, theatre, culture, and dance; it has become an unmissable event in the Cortonese summer. 

The theme of this summer’s edition is Travel Notes, “the story of our world, the home which surrounds us… We travel through the past, retracing the memory of a changing country, and we launch ourselves toward a future shaped by the digital propagation of art and of the emotions: between a selfie and a tweet.” (Cortona Mix Festival 2017)

In addition to the main events the Feltrinelli Bookshop (one of the sponsors of the festival) will be open to the public in Piazza Signorelli until July 30th.
