In Foiano Della Chiana’s historical town center this stylish town house is built atop the town’s original medieval walls with far reaching views that can be enjoyed from both the lovely panoramic garden and from the first floor balcony.
Built on four levels, the property has been restored to an extremely high standard including traditional cotto floors and exposed wood beams.
The large basement, with its stunning barrel vaulted ceilings, can be used as a wine cellar or storage room. On the ground floor there is an open space kitchen and dining area that leads out into the garden, a bathroom, a large garage and additional storage room. The first floor consists of a large living room with an antique marble fireplace, balcony, bedroom, and bathroom. A second bedroom with an en suite bathroom and walk-in dressing room is located on the second floor adjacent to two more bedrooms and one bathroom. There is a large attic space which is currently used for storage.
There is a water purifying system, double glazed windows throughout, a new boiler, an alarm system, and a video entry phone. A large part of the furniture is also included in the sale. The house is attached to all mains facilities.
Foiano is a lovely little town with a big history. Within the walled city there is a wealth of art and architectural works to be discovered and enjoyed. The old town center has a number of fine restaurants and is complete with all services. Foiano is famous throughout Italy for its annual carnival which was first held in 1539. The carnival is as important to the town as the horse Palio is to Siena. It attracts people from all over the world who cannot help but admire the wonderful floats which are designed and built each year by the four different cantieri (quarters) of the town.
Foiano is located in the Val di Chiana and as such is in a central location, very practical as a base for traveling all over Italy. The Camucia train station is only a fifteen minute drive away, allowing for easy access to Italy’s biggest cities and airports relatively quickly and inexpensively.
